High Expectations iconThe first stage in the process of teaching backwards is to create a classroom environment where all share high expectations.  This begins with the teacher, as Hattie in ‘Visible Learning for Teachers’ puts it perfectly“Our role is not to enable students to reach their potential, or to meet their needs; our role is to find out what students can do, and make them exceed their potential and needs.” To ensure theyexceed their potential, it is crucial to get learners to own these high expectations themselves.  Andy explains more in the video below…
